FCSGL Terminology
Updated September 18, 2006
Are you having a little trouble with some of the terms and jargon used by League members and the site? This is the place for you! If you cannot find it here, drop us a message and we'll add it.

- Beginner Level Team
- Members of a team fielded for low level adventures. These members are 7th level or below and meet the criteria for a beginner level team set forth in the FCSGL rules.
- Door
- (1) A piece of architecture used to allow temporary or intermittent cover of a portal. Allows easy or secured access through that portal. (2) A true neutral construct that imposes a substantial barrier for champions. (3) A barrier with a natural +5 Bane Champion quality. (4) Nemesis. (5) A barrier requiring a minimum of 20 minutes to bypass for a PC.
- RPGA
- This originally was an acronym for the Roleplayers Gaming Association. Over the years it has lost that meaning as it has incorporated other d20 game systems and evolved. Now RPGA stands as a representation for the organized play arm of Wizards of the Coast (owned by Hasbro).
- Safety Rule
- The League runs 4 levels of adventures for the FCSGL games: Beginner, Novice, Master, and Epic. Your team may participate in any game category (maybe with an XP/Treasure penalty). For example, a Master Level team may choose to participate in a Beginner, Novice, Master, or Epic level game. If a team is fielded that is in a higher level category than the rating of the game, then they may not initiate, or cause to be initiated, an attack on lower level teams. Game Masters are required to enforce this rule. If a lower level team initiates the attack, then the Safety Rule does not apply. If a team chooses to participate in a game rated higher than their category, the Safety Rule may not apply. There is also a GM Safety Rule. This rule allows a GM to use their characters as NPCs in their games and bring them back if they die. The GM's team may NOT gain ANYTHING from the adventure other than knowledge of their participation.
