The Situation

5,000 years ago the gods of Fifth Sphere, with the help of their champions, defeated the evil god Drexxs. Drexxs was forced into an endless sleep, his worshipers disbanded, and his champions killed leaving no one to awaken him. Or so everyone believed....

Two weeks ago, the bodies of his champions were stolen from his tomb. Investigations showed that at about the same time, relics of Drexxs's champions were stolen from their respective hiding places. 10 young virgins were also reported kidnapped.

One week ago a worshiper was captured during a failed kidnapping. It was discovered that a cult of Drexxs survived in hiding and are now attempting to awaken their god. Ceremonies will be taking place at the deserted temple of Drexxs in the Jungle of Transmoria.

Today the Lords of Dispure have sent an emissary to the champions. He has come with 60,000gp and the promise of more if the champions will come to stop the evil from awakening.

Who will answer the call?

 

Registered Teams & Their Fates

The game started as League Champions; Cedrik, Grynak Beleroth, Aron Silverwind, and all 20 members of team Ghost Wind (The Bus) met with Kevin and the temporary representative of Bidsspike Jerid Bloodwroth. Who gave them their 60,000 gp down payment and the information concerning their mission. The cult of Grexxs had reformed and collected relics to awaken Grexxs from his eternal sleep. The champions job: stop it from happening. The champions then traveled with Jerid to the Jungle of Transnova. Within the first 10 minutes the champions were attacked by a small pack of Gibberling (only 100). About 25 from each direction. A cone of cold from Aron, a barrage of crossbow bolts and low level spells from Ghost WInd, white fire from Cedrik, wholesale slaughter from Grynak, and a couple quick whip shots from Jarid left them and Ghost Wind set up Leomunds Secure Shelter for the majority of its members as well as any who wish to stay with them.

Aron Silverwind sent his familiar Tanis the rat in to explore the first level. After a uninformative talk with the locals and a search of the area declared it safe for everyone else to come in. Shortly their attack by the Half-Troll Lesser Verrangoin that the Tanis didn't notice hanging from the ceiling. A strafing fire attack makes everyone aware of it. A combination of ceiling drops and axe blows killed it, however it gets in a last shot by exploding on Grynak and Aron. Tanis informs the recovering champions that someone is on the stairs trying to escape. Grynak runs him down, but unfortunately he killed himself before he could give them any information. But they did get the relic he carried as well as the Verrangoin's treasure which Ghost WInd brought out to it shelter.

During all this the shelter was attacked unsuccessfully by a swarm of ants and a flock of gargoyles. Apparently, the nastier creatures of the jungle were all avoiding the temple that day. On the second floor were found potions, books on monsters, cages, a forging station, and traps. A spike pit and an Alchemist fire from above both of which were avoided. After another run upstairs and outside by Ghost Wind the champions moved on to the third floor.

Cedrik left alarms on the stairs. Tanis is sent in to search the area and finds the armory and a large room that he will not enter. Ghost WInd sends in prying eyes to investigate. They find a swarm of Blood Fiend Locust which follows them into the wall and start attacking. They annoy Grynak and drop Aron a level and were blasted by Ghost WInd. That when the Green Mist started coming from the room. Grynak readied for a fight and Ghost Wind, Cedrik, and Aron readied spells and psionics as well. Three vampire spawn take form, and are beating, turned and blasted by spells and psionics destroying and scattering them to the winds. Unfortunately Ghost Wind was quickly fireballed from behind and confronted by a ghost. It was a Red Ether Gaunt which was quickly turned. A flaming sphere cleared out the last of the vampires and the last of the swarm.

The champions finally entered the room and came face to face with Hullathoin who was behind all the accords on this level. Then are quickly flanked by the Huecava behind them and enter battle. Ghost Wind quickly ice walls of the Hullethoin and Aron summons up a Avoral to take care of the Huecuva. Quick melee of spells, psionics, and axe blows, the champions destroy the Huecava, found another relic. The champions decide that its better to keep going than to waste time, effort, and magic to fight the Hullahoin. So Ghost Wind force cages it off and continues downstairs.

After another roadblock on the following floors were dealt with, the team arrived on the sixth floor. At last they find an unlocked door with no guard. They open the door to find the ceremony already in progress. Grynak quickly runs in and ends the game by goring the head priest and then chopping his head off as he tries a spell.
