Rumors abound that the champions are not all that special, except for their magical gear and flashy spells. A large group of toughs with a shadowy financial backer has decided to see how great the champions really are in single combats. An arena has been designed in a way so that no magic works within.
Each entering champion will be paired with a "suitable" combatant from the challenging group in a no holds barred fight.
Are you willing to prove you are a champion in such a situation? Come for glory and reputation, or come for some serious gambling on the outcomes!

The champions met up in Dragon's Den and were informed that they should travel the mysts to ThuRoch on Triska (a place some had perhaps heard tales about from other champions) and that they would be met when they arrived. Sure enough 26 robed figures met them upon arrival and quickly teleported them each to the Trinite Arena on the Isle of Andros. Outside the arena they were each given tickets for entry and warned to watch for pickpockets in the arena. Once inside several champions purchased programs and others canvassed the crowd for intelligence about their possible challengers. Champions who wished to compete were given a waiver to sign and offered the chance to purchase a Raise Dead or Resurrection spell casting from the local clergy.
As the time for the first match drew near, some champions rushed to make bets at the wagering offices. By the end of the day many had become familiar faces there. The matches went fairly well for the champions, much to the dismay of the locals. Before all could compete the champions were asked to depart and escorted out due to the results of the match with their top champion. The same robed figures met them outside and teleported them. Those champions who had lost their matches were returned safely to ThuRoch. Those who had the misfortune to win ended up elsewhere, with only a dismissive pointing in the proper direction. They should return to Dragon's Den in several days, if they are fortunate.
- Ghost Wind Initiates (Beginner)
Player: Christopher J. Ford
The initiates of team Ghost Wind, Ja'Nek (Human Male Cleric 6 / Psion 1), Melee (Dwarf Fighter 6), Thomas (Human Male Ranger 5), and Elizabeth (Human Female Sorcerer 5) accepted the challenge. Melee elected to compete with the challenger Queppa, a 10ft tall, copper beaked and brown feathered, four legged Achaierai. His match was the fifth on the slate. Fortunately Ja'Nek stood by ready to give medical aid, because by the end of the match Melee was sorely in need of it. Melee spent much of the match dancing about the arena trying to stay out of reach of his tall, feathered opponent. After surviving many claw attacks from his fearsome challenger, a lucky bite was his downfall. To his credit, Melee managed to bring Queppa to the very edge of consciousness before succumbing himself. Throughout the day Thomas and Liz worked the crowd, managing to line several of their pockets with gold.

- Humanitarian Initiates (Beginner)
Player: Arthur Wright
The initiates of the new team Humanitarian Ragath Grathern (Male Human Monk 5), Narelean Brageth (Male Human Paladin 3) and Zaerith Koplit (Male Human Wizard 2) were very eager to accept this unusual challenge. Ragath elected to compete against Varna Farwynne. She quickly cleaned the floor with him in the first match of the slate, proving that her mentor's training had indeed been quite good.

- Blackiron Strike Team (Beginner)
Player: Jonathan Sternfeld
The Blackiron strike team of Maur, Rurik, Borin and Gisil (all Dwarf Male Fighter 4) accepted the challenge. Rurik and Borin elected to fight a two on two fight with the newcomer challengers Ucari Zefon and Tarsia. Early intelligence gathering had provided them with the fact that one of these two was an Orc and thus a good match for their team's skills. They were the third match on the slate. They proved themselves honorably, by defeating their opponents in under ten rounds. This match was also the first win by the champions, giving a much needed morale boost and some gold for their wagering colleagues. The victory was slightly tainted for the dwarves when they looked back on the match and realized that While Ucari was indeed a mighty 7 foot Orc, Tarsia was only a petite human female bard.

- Margret (Beginner)
Player: Alain Ackerman
Grolnak (Male Human/Gold Dragon Barbarian 4), Livena (Female Wood Elf Fighter 5/ Order of the Bow 2), Rykan (Male Human Fighter 5/ Master Samurai 2) and Olstad (Male Human Monk 7)
These two teams each provided one crossbred creature and requested a two on one match against the supreme challenger Girgash, a juvenile Blue Dragon. Girgash was amenable to this, much to his later regret. Girgash quickly found out that his normal fighting style of biting and clawing with the occasional tail slaps was of little use against Rayne. Deciding that Grolnak needed to be eliminated so he could concentrate his fury properly, Girgash switched to the snatch and drop the opponent tactic. Grlonak was treated to a quick breath of lightning and a nice view from above the open roof of the arena before discovering the wonders of gravity. One opponent down, Girgash then tried the same tactic on Rayne. She was much more of a handful and two drops had not yet laid her low when the combination of arrows from spectators in the stands and wounds in combat caused Girgash to falter and fall. Their victory, the champion's third, in the sixth and last fight of the day caused the champions much joy. Of course this victory came at a high cost, with Grolnak a mere puddle of blood on the arena floor and Rayne having to push her opponent's dead body off herself to claim the victory.

- Otherworldly (Beginner)
Player: Wayne Edie
Sasiah (Human Female Fighter 1 / Rogue 4 / Gatecrasher 2), Bezyip (Human Male Fighter 6 / Planar Champion 1), Tari (Human Female Wizard 7), and Sima (Human Male Rogue 7) accepted the challenge and decided to send Sima into the arena against the newcomer Brinstar Marblehaven, a rather stubborn human druid. Sima spent the entire match trying not to deal actual damage to his opponent and talk him into a draw instead. Of course Brinstar was having none of this and trying to do serious harm with his club while dodging blows from Sima's dagger. Brinstar eventually passed out from all his bruises and the fourth match and second victory went to the champions. It is uncertain if Bezyip noticed any of this since he was off chatting up Tarsia, who was recovering from her dwarf induced injuries. She provided him with her address and several fond smiles.

- Bartertown Cobras (Beginner)
Player: Aaron Northrup
Match two on the slate was Xamot (Male Elf Rogue 3/ Fighter 1) from this new team of champions vs Whitefire. He was backed up by his teammates, Master (Male Gnome Sorcerer 7), his brother Tomax (Male Elf Rogue 4) and Fienia (Female Human Cleric 2). Unfortunately for him this was a very short match. Xamot quickly fell to Whitefire's prowess with poisoned dagger. Much booing was heard from the crowd, as this match lasted only seconds.

- Hopeless (Beginner)
Player: Julia McGinnis
Spot (Male Human Barbarian 6) decided that watching the combats was to his liking, spending all his time in the stands. Perhaps he wanted to pick up a few tricks for use in further adventures?
