The Situation

The champions of Dragon's Den are quite used to adoration by now, but when that adoration leads an Orc Chieftain to make a marriage request of Delde (at axe-point no less), and leaves her sister Whisper for dead, it is time for something to be done.

Fortunately, Whisper managed to make it back to Dragon's Den but now she is asking for the champion's help in stopping the ceremony and retrieving Delde. Political powers in the region have also requested that this not be turned into the first incident in an interspecies war.

Who will answer the challenge?

Registered Teams & Their Fates

The champions of Dragon's Den have gotten quite a reputation, even as far away as the Terra 13 system. All the teams noticed that most people in the Orcish kingdom of Thokk knew them on sight. This was both a help and a hindrance as many of the teams found out. The mission began with a trip through the Mysts to the border city of ThuRoch. After equipping, the champions traveled the day, stopping to rest in the town of Daka. Once in Daka they met the eponymous ruler of the town and her rather odd "cat" Grimy. She put the champions up in her headquarters and then journeyed with some of them the following day to the city of Thokk. Although many had worried what state she would be found in when they arrived, the champion Delde was in fine, if slightly nervous, spirits. She was happily preparing for a life of domestic bliss in her husband-to-be's kingdom, with occasional time off for adventuring. In the end, the mission turned into a rather loud (and dusty) wedding ceremony for the Orc Chieftain Sofur Stomper and the champion Delde.

  1. Ghost Wind
    Player: Christopher J. Ford

The combined might of team Ghost Wind [Illiri (Human Female Sorcerer 16), Ja'Nek (Human Male Cleric 5 / Psion 1), Melee (Dwarf Fighter 5), Thomas (Human Male Ranger 5), Elizabeth (Human Female Sorcerer 5), Khevak (Halfling Male Psion 4), and Kenter (Human Male Sorcerer 6 / Fighter 1)] joined in the trek to the city of Thokk gathering little details and playing diplomatic escort to the sub-chief Daka along the way. Once in Thokk, spells and psionics couldn't find any cause, save true love, in the heart and mind of chief Sofur. With no reason to stop it, members of team Ghost Wind changed clothes for a grand diplomatic wedding. Much muttering about bridesmaid's gowns was heard prior to the ceremony from Illiri and Elizabeth. Fortunately they were not called upon in that duty, but they did help with a rather nice force cage for the conjured Earth Elemental that appeared to threaten the ceremony and its participants.

Ghost Wind survives to adventure again.

  2. Thunder
    Player: Julia McGinnis

Whisper (Human Female Ranger 15), apparently not at her best after her run in with a band of innovative orcs, went into the mission with blood boiling and many worries. Once in the city of Thokk she was quickly escorted to see her sister. Delde explained that the Orc Chieftain had not instigated the marriage "request" or the subsequent beating. It had been merely a plan of some of his younger (and perhaps power hungry) citizens. After meeting the chief and contemplating the power available in this match (as well as receiving a job offer from the chief), Whisper was content to allow the ceremony to go on. She did seem rather jealous that her "little" sister was to be the first in the family to marry, but she refrained from taking it out on the orc band responsible for the whole thing (much to their delight). Coordinator's Note: Delde (Half-Orc Female Sorcerer 9) participated as an NPC in this adventure and was not considered fielded.

    Thunder survives to adventure again.

  3. Garfield
    Player: Conor Morgan

The shape changing skills of Garfield (Human Male Druid 5 / Shifter 10) came in quite handy as the teams explored the tribe headquarters in the town of Daka and the chieftain's residence in the city of Thokk. His lack of reputation also allowed him to observe from the sidelines when many other teams were stuck in the spotlight. Suspicions raised by the odd cat-like companion of the adept Daka, Garfield kept an eye out for anything odd. He was quick to spot Daka spell casting in the back of the wedding ceremony. His change to an Earth Elemental allowed him to crush her and her "cat", as well as stop the nefarious plans for chaos during the wedding.

    Garfield survives to adventure again.

  4. Death from Afar
    Player: Jonathan Sternfeld

Death from Afar [Tharivol Liaden's (Elf Fighter 6 / Wizard 2 / Arcane Archer 10 / Deepwoods Sniper 2), Sargen of Hornwood (Human Rogue 8), and Andrinor Agriaba (Human Male Cleric 6)] was happy for the disguise skills of member Sargen when they found out elves (even champion ones) weren't well received in the kingdom of Thokk. Fortunately "humans" with hoods are often overlooked. Though much of the trip was uneventful for the team, Tharivol did manage to get in some exploring in the home of the sub-chief Daka and, after a late start, along the road to the city of Thokk. Healthy suspicions (or maybe Elven paranoia) helped keep Tharivol watching for any odd behavior in the "palace". During the wedding ceremony, a timely tip off from Garfield allowed Tharivol to temporarily disrupt Daka's summoning spell with a well placed arrow. Later flights of arrows provided the wedding with dust to add to the festive atmosphere.

Death from Afar survives to adventure again.
