The Situation

The increase in apparitions and portents in the city of Dragons Den has given cause for the mayor to summon the champions once again. Your mission is simple. Find the source of these disturbances and shut it down. The citizens have reported the greatest number of occurrences near the fountain in the center of the city. What does this signify? Who is Ol' Joe? And since when has ANY mission turned out to be simple!?

Registered Teams & Their Fates

The city of Dragons Den was facing dire time indeed. Reports of suspicious activity were coming in from all quarters. A child seen running down an alley proved impossible to find. Women beaten in the streets with no evidence the act ever took place. A merchant killed by his horses. Horse that were seen to ride off into the sky.

The champions gathered at Tagar's to lay out a plan. They investigated the Central Fountain area and were met with increasing grizzly scenes. The interior walls had been painted in blood. The apparition of a child being beaten in front of her bound parents. A mother looking for her child.

After some investigation, and some exploding grill work, the teams decided to check out the drainage system under the fountains. They found a circular passage under the grates. This led them to the entrances to the chamber beneath. A body discovered there appeared to have the person's equipment stacked neatly on top of it, yet it was missing its lower half. Obviously, he didn't do it. The team followed a shaft down to the intersection of four tunnels. Here they found the nightmare. An ancient and forgotten temple of Vecna once stood under what is now Dragons Den. Buried alive and cursed to live a tortured eternity, the souls here had been calling out for help. The team quickly discovered the tricks to freeing the souls. The destruction of Vecna's symbol in the main sacrifice room once and for all put an end to the suffering that had lasted so long.

Once again the champions have proved their worth and were rewarded for their duty.

  1. Calahir
    Player: Chris Harasta
Calahir (Halfling Male Rogue 7 / Shadow Dancer 8) made his first appearance this day. His investigation of the grates and his ability to spot strange happenings proved useful.

    Calahir survives to adventure again.

  2. Norstrand
    Player: Noah Burdick
Flessan Norstrand (Human Male Fighter 15) found little use for his strength, but his mind and courage were evident. Helping to free the bound bodies he assisted in the release of the souls.

    Norstrand survives to adventure again.

  3. Silverstars
    Player: Juergen Walker
His faith strong in his heart Linflas Nighthawk (Human Male Cleric 15) called upon the name of his deity in the destruction of Vecna's symbol by fire. His faith was stronger than he thought. Striking directly at the symbol of Venca's power caused a chain reaction that spread throughout the passages striking even the champions. Everyone survived, but all will remember the cries of freedom issued by the souls that departed their tortured prison that day.

    Silverstars survives to adventure again.

  4. Death from Afar
    Player: Jonathan Sternfeld
Tharivol Liaden's (Elf Fighter 6 / Wizard 2 / Arcane Archer 10 / Deepwoods Sniper 2), Sargen of Hornwood (Human Rogue 8), and Andrinor Agriaba (Human Male Cleric 6) filled in the other champions on previous missions in Dragons Den. Their stories led to the investigation of the drainage grates and the discovery of the temple chamber.

Death from Afar survives to adventure again.
