The Situation

Through careful research and reconstruction of the book Kaneor had been studying in the Justice mission, it's been determined that the item he'd stolen was a relic of artifact power. Due to the poor condition of the book after the battle, the artifact's nature still is not known. Now, an item of incredible power rests out there somewhere, simply resting wherever the Baron and his agents had placed it before their deaths. The task at hand is to locate and secure the artifact before it falls into the wrong hands. Work swiftly - Kaneor's surviving agents are likely to be looking for it as well and this kind of power draws in opportunistic scavengers from across the world.

Registered Teams & Their Fates

We approached the compound. Other teams had been here before, so we let them take the lead. I had Ja’Nek set up a command post and created an ice wall to protect the horses. I posted Khevak, Liz, and Thomas a couple hundred feet outside the wall of the compound at each corner. George kept an eye on the horses while Night Vision did aerial surveillance. After I was sure that everyone was on station and everyone could signal everyone else, Anak and I entered the compound. I lifted us to the top of the central tower with a sphere and we descended through a hole in the roof. While Anak researched some disturbed books in the library, I sent out the eyes to recon the area. By the time I finished my casting though, it was all over. I did manage to find the new champion; I forget his name. He was caught in the yard by a Sepia Snake Sigil. I released him and was paid 2,000gp for my troubles. Not entirely his idea, but he didn’t say no. Liz reported that she and Thomas encountered Whisper and Delde in trouble in the SW tower. They let loose on the attackers, but one of them ran with half the teams in pursuit. He ran straight into Ja’Nek and he and Ruin captured the imbecile. Ruin took the prize. Ja’Nek saw no reason to argue the matter. Since the item was recovered, we received a reward. And turning the captive over to the Sheriff in Dragons Den will help add to our reputation. I doubt he is guilty of much, other than being a competitor. It will count for the Guild House that we captured him alive rather then slitting his throat. - From the Log of Illiri of the Fey Veil.
