The Situation

The champions stopped the bandits and the Tamaras Heart has been placed. Life has started to return to the valley and Dragons Den is under full construction. This would seem a good result to the month's work. The champions even succeeded in stopping most of the bandits during their raids. But sometimes, it only takes one flaw to ruin a good plan.

The last call for the champions had them ferreting out a group of bandits that once again held up in Tagar's Inn. But only one champion heeded the call. How could one champion cover all the bases? Faced with humans and trolls, a single rogue stood against unbelievable odds. Surviving through wit and cunning, a single bandit escape his grasp over the rooftop.

The escaped messenger returned to Dragons Den 3 days ago. He entered Tagar's and posted a single note on the bulletin board: "The game is over. You have 3 days to leave Dragon's Den or I will come and remove you. All of you!" No one claims to know who the message is from, but it was signed with the mark of a black dragon claw.

The champions are now called upon again in greatest empathy. The Merchants Guild reports that many people are leaving or have already left. A sudden, and unexpected, reduction in crime is welcomed, but the Guild is suspicious of its sudden absence in the light of events. You are asked to lay in wait at Tagar's and deal with whatever comes. Dragons Den is the only option left for the Merchants Guild and they cannot let it go.

For your service, you will receive the following: 1,500gp paid upon conclusion, a pearl tear from Voisik's, and provisioning for a week.

Registered Teams & Their Fates

There had to be a reason that Tagar's was constantly the place where the bandits held up. And it came to light this day. Stowed deep within the ground below Dragons Den was a chamber of evil. Within its walls an altar of summoning was being activated. The final bandit descended the shaft below the fountain in front of Tagar's. Pursued by the champions, he sacrificed himself to his deed and the altar was activated. Faced with doom, Dragons Den once again survived by the success of the champions.

  1. Lawn
    Player: Jennifer Sternfeld
Roywyn (Ruin) (Gnome Female Wizard 9 / Druid 7) showed up again with toads in tow. Slurp (Human Male Commoner 6) was an interesting site as this former toad was recently reincarnated as a human. Ruin headed down the shaft and presented a champion spirit as she help mow down the seemingly mindless minions summoned by the circle.

    Lawn survives to adventure again.

  2. Death from Afar
    Player: Jonathan Sternfeld
Tharivol Liaden (Elf Male Fighter 6 / Wizard 2 / Arcane Archer 10 / Deepwoods Sniper 2) and Sargen of Hornwood (Human Male Rogue 8) proved once again that courage in the face of the enemy is worth the effort. Though tough and determined, the enemy fell before the weapons and prowess of these warriors.

Death from Afar survives to adventure again.

  3. Twig
    Player: Vanessa Wilcox-Swarez
Lisonamit (Half-Elf Male Druid 20) brought to bear the natural forces. Approaching the altar, he let loose with his power to dispel the summoning magic. Instead, he ended up disrupting the controlling magic. The minions, now summoned, mindlessly advanced on the champions. Seemingly unstoppable, they also lacked the creative ability to react to attacks. This proved their downfall as they champions wiped them out.

    Twig survives to adventure again.

  4. Rig
    Player: Wayne Edie
Kij (Human Male Psion 17) searched the altar for signs of a mind to control to no avail. As the chamber filled with poison gas, Kij's power formed a mighty wind that blew away the mists. Battering the statues, he moved to disallow the altar any further influence. As the parties noticed their escape route becoming blocked, it was Kij's mental powers that destroyed the sliding barriers and opened the shaft again.

    Rig survives to adventure again.

  5. Elemental Fist
    Player: Mark Jerard
Slate Grithen (Human Male Cleric 5 / Sorcerer 5 / Geomancer 7) was at home in this earthen tomb and let loose with elemental forces that devastated the enemy. Calculating his strikes to take out the greatest number of the enemy, fire ripped through the ranks. Weakening the enemy so that they could be picked off by the other champions, he earned his pay this day.

Elemental Fist survives to adventure again.
