The Situation |

Disaster has struck. King Valor's only heir has been taken hostage by forces unknown. The kidnapper has left the following ransom note: "Your godson is in my hands. Gather seven of your greatest adventuring bands on the night of the 5th day of Liatha. At an hour until midnight, a location will be delivered to you. The bands must arrive at the designated location at precisely midnight. If they can beat me, your godson is returned and all is well, for you. If I am not defeated within the hour, you will voluntarily cede your throne to me. As a token of my largess, I will still return your godson. If you refuse me, his life is lost, and your kingdom soon will be as well." Clerical divinations have been unsuccessful at uncovering the identity of the kidnapper, or the location of the Prince. |

More than a setup, it was a betrayal that would forever haunt the champions. Despite their reservations, the champions had tried to accept that their former comrade was a true champion. But the reversal by the Lich Nate destroyed any hopes of that. Turning on his former comrades in a mighty battle several fell. The heir was already killed and the kingdom fell to his rule. Justice was now his to deal out. And while all knew it was just a matter of time before he was evicted from his temporary victory, the tempers of many were evident (both characters and players).
